About Sara
Sara's love of horses and riding, which started at the age of two, continued a family interest that dates back to her great-grandmother. Progressing through Pony Club and Riding club, Sara competed in all disciplines before focusing on show jumping. Affiliating with British Showjumping, Sara competed successfully with her pony ‘Athlone Flight' on the National Circuit, with successes at the Scope Finals in 2011 and 2012. Her move onto horses, led to further success with ‘ Roscoe’ and ‘Carpigiani’ when they competed at the National Championships, the National Amateur Finals in 2013 and 2014 when they qualified for the Championship Finals.
In 2014, Sara competed at her first International and subsequently, in 2016 with ‘Carpigiani’ and her new ride 'Kamiel Deux’, Sara had success with placings on both rides in the Championship Finals at Bronze and Silver levels, jumping to 1.35/1.40m. In 2018, Sara has also competed in Belgium, with her young horse ‘Glitter', gaining a third place at 1.10m, as a part of the British Showjumping Step Up to Gold Programme.
Sara has trained with leading coaches and riders, including Matt Lanni in the UK and Jessica Mendoza, at her home in the Netherlands. Training in the Netherlands provided opportunities to train at Peelbergen and to compete at Sentower Park. These opportunities provided Sara with an insight into professional showjumping both in the UK and Europe and further confirmed her determination to pursue an equestrian career.
Sara’s competition schedule has been undertaken in parallel with gaining her educational qualifications, culminating in gaining an Honours degree in History and Politics at Warwick University, in 2016. Following University Sara has continued her studies, with selection for the British Showjumping BEF Young Professional Programme in 2017, Category C Driving Licence in 2018. and in 2022 gaining her British Showjumping Level 3 coaching qualification and being selected for the BSCC level 4 Masters Programme. Following qualification Sara is coaching both individual and groups and is currently developing a coaching arrangement with a leading school in Warwickshire.
With the experience that Sara has gained on professional yards and training with professional coaches, over many years, Sara has now developed the family yard in South Warwickshire, into a professional set-up from where she trains her show jumpers. The yard is small and intimate, consisting of 4 internal stables and four traditional brick built stables, a 25x40m arena with show jumps, a wash-box, a solarium and an all-weather turn-out area. Sara is looking to add additional facilities in 2019/20 including a covered horse-walker, covered lunge pen and an extension to the menage, to 25x60m.
